The problem with blaming external factors is that we lose control. Without control, change is harder to achieve. When you blame others, you are not taking accountability.

I encourage us all to try to avoid blaming factors that we can not control or change. Instead, focus on your position in any uncomfortable situation or relationship.

My therapist always reminds me of this in a caring way. It’s not about being hard on yourself, no one is perfect and anyone that demands perfection of you, should be avoided. By avoiding blaming others and focusing on yourself, you gain control of the uncomfortable circumstance.

With self accountability, you gain the option to influence the environment, or leave.

You may be a product of your environment. You also have the power to influence your environment to become product of you. 🙂
